Getting Sick in College

This blog fits in perfectly for me this week since I was sick all of last week. I am the type of person that hates to miss class because then I feel so far behind. In high school I had almost perfect attendance and never got sick but in college that all changes. Since you are in such a tight living quarters, and share everything it is very easy for you to get sick.
There are many things you can do to keep yourself in good health during college. For example, if you are feeling tired don’t fight your body listen to it. Last week when I was not feeling well I went to bed everyday at 9:00. I think this helped me get better faster. Also, if you take a multiple vitamin everyday that will help your body stay healthy. You also need to make sure that you are eating healthy foods and getting your exercise. Lastly, it is very important to wash your hands and keep your hands off your face.
If you are starting to feel sick there are a couple things you can do:
1)             If you have a cold begin drinking a lot of fluids and take some cough medication
2)             I would do this for a couple days and if it doesn’t get better then make an appointment at the health center
3)             If you are really sick it is best to email your professors and say you will not be in class due to illness. You don’t want everyone in your path getting sick.
4)             Lastly, if you are really sick it is best to go home so you don’t get your whole dorm building sick.
It is important to know the difference between a serious health issue than a common cold. When in doubt consult the doctor at the health center.
