The articles that are on the freshman 15 were very interesting to read about. This is a common problem that many college students face. There was one study that I thought was interesting about this problem. Studies show that students on average gain 3 to 10 pounds during their first 2 years of college. Most of this weight gain occurs during the first semester of freshman year. I feel that this happens because many students are away from home and can eat any amount of food at whatever time they would like. Also, the food that is at the dinning halls is high in fat and sugar. I feel that many students eat food that is fried and also larger amounts of food are consumed during their day.
The freshman 15 can happen for a couple of reasons. It can be caused by not eating a balanced meal. Instead of a student eating french fries they should maybe have a salad. Also, it has to deal with stress. When many students feel stress they have a tendency to eat. When you are stressed you should try to go to the gym or hang with friends.
Also long as you eat healthy and exercise you should not gain the freshman 15. It is important that you spend time on yourself and work out. This can be from taking a walk around campus to going to the gym and taking a class.
